Transvestigations is a showcase of transdisciplinary investigations of complex, contextual issues by the first cohort of Habib University students, conducted as part of their final year capstone/thesis projects. The representative works range from robots to research papers, apps to poetry, and everything in between, clustered broadly under, and fluidly between, ten themes of environment, mobility, automation, play, storytelling, sharing economy, identity, society, gender and health.

The works selected here are placed in conversation with each other. Under mobility, we share a device for making public transport vehicles “intelligent,” but we also examine the exclusion of transgender persons from these vehicles. A student has built an app to create a gig economy, while another critiques and questions the disruption caused by the existing sharing economy models, as they pan out in South Asia. Some students unpack their personal identities, while others examine the construction of other identities in our society.

Through these transvestigations, our graduating students ask important questions that deeply affect our lives. Through this showcase, we invite you to join in this conversation.

The show is open to the public every day from 10am - 4:30pm from Monday, May 14 - Thursday, May 17, 2018. Please make sure you have a photo ID to present at the main gate.
